SpaceJam – Part One
In 1991, I wanted to be an astronaut.
I was holiday-ing with the fam in Florida when I came up with this. The idea of being one with the stars and moon was terribly romantic and I was, for the most part, a terrible romantic.
That all changed when I was told you needed to do a lot of math and science in your life and all I was good at was posing in front of our hotel bathroom mirror. My romantic idea went from dreamy to dry and calculated, and just like that I dropped it like it was hawt.
Decades later, I stand before you now, looking like a half-retro-half-futuristic space woman with fabulous pink hair and a sassy bag. Yup, this is as ‘space-y’ as I get I’m afraid and though I’m not touching the stars, I’m using my imagination and making that happen anyway.
This silver awesomeness from Mango (here & here) inspired me to create this photoshoot. When I saw it, I knew I had to recreate my childhood dream with a modern twist. I was thinking of Brigitte Bardot meets Barbarella in space (gawd, why don’t they make movies like this anymore?!).
I had so much fun at this shoot that I’m making it a two-parter for your googling eyes to see. I hope you like it and appreciate the imagination; I have never done this before, I really felt like telling a story rather than just posing.
Enjoy my lovelies!
