Disney for grownups is not an easy thing to pull off in fashion.
It can either look too immature or dated or just plain kitsch. Dressing playfully as an adult can be a bit tricky for most–and I know–I’ve tried to marry the two for years and I still struggle with it.
I was happy and unsure to see this Mickey Mouse blouse at H&M and I was toying with the idea of taking this kiddy print and adding some maturity to it, say… a black leather skirt and a corset belt. Could I make Disney look grown up?
At first, I put this look together with a pair of black mary janes but I thought it looked like an obvious choice (gee, a Disney look with heels? Yeah, that’s never been done before) and a look I’ve seen countless times from other fashion bloggers. How do you pull off looking grown up and playful at the same time? Heels won’t work well at all, I needed something off putting, unexpected even.
My leopard sneakers from TopShop gives this look a kind’a of nerdy appeal on women and I kind’a like it. I think the trending word I’m looking for and will throw at you now is adorkable. Oh yeah, I said it and I think I made my point to looking adorkable in this outfit.
Here are some shots from my latest photoshoot, now we can all sing M-I-C-K-E-Y M-O-U-S-E.
Ciao, my lovelies.
